Surgical Coordinator, Physician Practice

Job Summary

Responsible for coordinating and maintaining surgical schedules for the practice. Coordinates with hospitals to arrange patient pre‑op testing and medical clearances. Triages phone calls appropriately and maintains the physician’s weekly schedule, including academic meetings and travel arrangements.

• Maintain surgical schedules for the practice and obtain authorizations when needed.
• Coordinate with hospitals to schedule all patient pre‑op testing and medical clearances.
• Triage patient phone calls for office visits, tests, surgeries, and other encounters.
• Prepare patients’ charts and file related patient records.
• Contact and confirm dates and time of procedures with patients.
• Maintain the physician’s weekly schedule and coordinate academic meetings, including travel arrangements.
• Perform any other related duties as assigned.

• High school diploma required.
• Minimum of six months of related job experience or equivalent is required.
• Ability to handle and maintain confidential information.
• Familiarity with medical terminology and ability to calculate and collect cash transactions.
• Must possess strong interpersonal skills, including excellent communication skills and the ability to deal effectively with staff, physicians and patients in a courteous manner.
