Job Summary
The Clinical Pharmacy Specialist, Antimicrobial Stewardship Program (ASP) serves as Co-Chair of the Women & Infants Hospital Antimicrobial Stewardship Program. The Pharmacy Specialist ASP works with the Infectious Disease Physicians, Clinical Microbiologists, Infection Prevention Practitioners, Hospital Epidemiologist and Obstetric Medicine to enhance antimicrobial stewardship, an activity that includes appropriate selection, dosing, route, and duration of antimicrobial therapy. The successful candidate will also provide clinical support to the Department of Medicine as a member of the Infectious Disease section.
Provides education and support to patients/caretakers and staff, and performs other job-related duties as requested.
- Bachelors Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited college of pharmacy required.
- Must be Registered Pharmacist in the State of Rhode Island or eligible for state licensure.
- Successful completion of Post Graduate Year 1 (PGY1) in Pharmacy Practice or Board Certification in Pharmacotherapy (BCPS) required.
- Post Graduate Year 2 (PGY2) in Infectious Disease Pharmacotherapy is preferred.
- Advanced certification in Antimicrobial Stewardship (SIDP/MAD-) required.
- Board certification or board eligible in Infectious Disease (BCIDP) preferred.
- Must demonstrate required knowledge and expertise of pharmacotherapy in Infectious Disease and experience in Antimicrobial Stewardship Program management (2 year minimum) required.
