Job Summary
The Medical Lab Technologist II performs routine and special tests according to written protocols to determine test results that will assist in diagnosing and treating patients.
Duties & Responsibilities- Demonstrates competency, individually and as part of the multidisciplinary team, in performing clinical care and assessment of all patient populations
- Collects, accepts, and prepares clinical specimens for analysis and storage.
- Performs all testing and related calculations.
- Evaluates and reports results.
- Performs established procedures for quality testing.
- Exhibits professional interpersonal skills.
- Provides instructions to MT students and other medical personnel.
- Participates in activities/in-services to maintain professional and departmental requirements.
- Bachelors Degree in a biological, chemical, physical or clinical laboratory science from an accredited institution.
- Completion of a twelve month clinical laboratory training program approved by the Department of Education and/or accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS) or equivalent.
- Completion of a nationally recognized certification examination for clinical laboratory scientists, such as that offered by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or equivalent.
- Proficiency in the English language required.
