The Ultrasound Special Procedure Technologist performs diagnostic ultrasound studies as well as breast procedures such as, but not limited to ultrasound guided biopsies, clip placement, cyst aspiration, fine needle aspiration, needle localizations/mag seed placement, abscess drainage, and cryoablation. The Ultrasound Special Procedures Technologist demonstrates willingness to train other sonographers in breast procedures as the position has the need to be filled.
The Ultrasound Special Procedures Technologist also demonstrates good judgment in the use and application of ultrasound equipment. The incumbent assesses the findings in ultrasound examinations as well as breast procedures and assists the radiologist and staff physicians in interpreting the ultrasound studies.

- Demonstrates competency, individually and as part of the multidisciplinary team, in performing clinical care and assessment of all patient populations.
- Maintains workstations and equipment.
- Greets patients and confirms patient identification.
- Assists in the ordering of supplies.
- Enhances professional growth.
- Preserves and protects patient rights to confidentiality.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned or requested.
Completion of a one- or two-year program or certified training course, followed by breast specialty certification examination. Ultrasound training, involving new diagnostic equipment and technique is received on the job. Breast Registry with the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) is required. Must be proficient in the English language.
