Human Resources Coordinator
The Human Resources Coordinator provides HR and administrative support for the Watson School of International and Public Affairs and its various Centers, Programs, and Initiatives. The incumbent coordinates and processes HR transactions related to the recruitment, hiring, onboarding, training, performance management, and transition processes for permanent and temporary employees, as well as Watson's student workers. As Workday's HR Coordinator, this position serves as the point of contact for HR related transactions, and provides support in the management of personnel actions, reporting, record and time keeping.
The position works closely with the Watson School's Human Resource Business Partner and other HR staff at the University to assist in the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures.
Management of Watson's Student Workers 40%
- Serves as manager for 175-200 student workers per year for the Watson Institute and its Centers, Initiatives, and Programs
- Creates job requisitions, posts jobs, and processes student hires in Workday
- Coordinates with faculty, staff, and students to hire and onboard student workers
- Reviews and approves time worked for students, communicating regularly with students, faculty, and staff to ensure its timeliness and accuracy
- Communicates payroll deadlines and policy changes to ensure student workers are paid in accordance with student employment policies and guidelines
- Oversees student workers' budgets, monitoring student payroll expenses and reporting on those expenses/budgets to faculty/staff as needed
- Attends and actively participates in job fairs and other related activities to bring positive awareness to student job opportunities at Watson
Workday HR Coordinator for the Watson School and its CIPs 30%
- Serves as Workday HR Coordinator, responsible for the application and oversight of daily HR business processes and transactions through Workday
- Maintains and audits employment records to ensure accuracy of information, including job descriptions and organizational charts
- Maintains consistent and timely communication with University units to ensure timely and efficient processing of HR and administrative items
- Serves as a resource to Watson staff and faculty for questions related to transactional business processes, including timekeeping, recordkeeping, and HR policy
- Assists with coordination of the annual performance review process and merit increase process
- Supports the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures
- Compiles metrics and data for reporting and informational purposes as needed
- Works collaboratively with other HR staff, including fellow HR Coordinators, to ensure consistency of process and sharing of resources.
Administrative support for hiring, onboarding, and transition processes at Watson 30%
- Creates, reviews, and processes positions and job requisitions for vacancies in Workday
- Coordinates recruitment, selection, and pre-employment processes such as communicating with applicants and hiring managers, scheduling and formatting interviews, applicant tracking, and collaborating with supervisors/managers on best practice and policy awareness
- Coordinates with Watson managers to facilitate an effective onboarding, orientation, and training experience, and oversees the onboarding and offboarding processes for Watson employees
- Manages and coordinates the hiring and onboarding of temporary workers through Next Source.
- Maintains clear documentation of all HR processes.
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field, and 1-2 years of relevant experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- Excellent communication skills to interface with multiple levels of organization, including a variety of student, faculty, and staff roles
- Strong organizational and administrative skills to effectively organize, prioritize, and follow through on multiple deadlines
- Demonstrated proficiency with Word, Excel, and Gmail/Google Suite
- General knowledge of HR policy and best practice
- Knowledge of Workday preferred, but not required
- Willingness and ability to support a diverse and inclusive environment
