Overview
Ensure the stability and integrity of the campus data network (wired and wireless). Responsible for long-term infrastructure planning as well as day-to-day monitoring of network security and providing user support, including wireless access, printers, HVAC, card access, digital cameras, and firewall security at the edge of the internet.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES- Oversee and maintain the organization’s Core Network Backbone infrastructure primary gateway edge routers connecting to ISPs. Monitor daily operations and troubleshoot problems on a 24-hour, on-call basis. Plan, design, implement, and provide continuous support of network systems. Install, configure, maintain, and upgrade routers and switches leveraging console management tools for real-time monitoring and configuration management. (20%)
- Regularly maintain a wireless plan on the administrative and student networks for proper wireless deployment. Maintain wireless controllers, high level configurations, upgrading software, and wireless access point installation, supporting and troubleshooting wireless issues that have been escalated to the helpdesk. (15%)
- Assist with any new network device implementation such as cameras, HVAC, printers (wired/wireless), door readers, VOIP (Voiceover IP), and IoT devices. Assist users with security and configuration. Design and implement network infrastructure for new facilities, ensuring scalability, security, and compliance with institutional standards and emerging technologies. (20%)
- Collaborate with the Server Administration team, to ensure optimal design and configuration of new server technologies. Maintain, monitor, and provide comprehensive support for data center infrastructure equipment to ensure reliability and performance. Implement advanced configurations for voice gateways and CUBE routers to support SIP trunking and the college's VOIP service. (20%)
- Provide creative and technical leadership, working with engineers to develop and deploy network designs to accommodate new products. Maintain detailed documentation of network configurations, changes, and procedures. Generate reports on network health, incidents, and performance metrics. (10%)
- Responsible for network security and maintaining firewall and NAC (network access controllers). Maintain and monitor network traffic daily to protect against threats, such as viruses, malware, spyware, and vulnerabilities by implementing new policies and troubleshooting problems as they arise. (15%)

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution and industry-related certifications or a combination of equivalent education and experience. Five to seven years' experience in networking field. Advanced knowledge of switches, routers, firewalls, access points, and NAC. Solid understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, SNMP protocols. Solid knowledge of OSI 7-layer network model. Experience in network management software and procedures. Proven skill in analyzing and troubleshooting issues ranging from individual users to network backbone.
Ability to collaborate with IT colleagues to architect a secure and effective network. Ability to take technical ownership of complex projects and organize, design, and planning sessions that include both internal and external resources.
