We have a client looking to being on a Healthcare Data Migration Consultant to support the extraction and archival of legacy EKG data from a Welch Allyn Cardio Perfect Workstation environment.
This project stems from an acquisition and involves a standalone, end-of-life system containing a large volume of historical patient EKG records that were not fully integrated into the client's EMR. The system is no longer supported by the vendor, and previous extraction attempts have failed due to encryption and platform limitations.
This role will require a hands-on, problem-solving consultant capable of working with unsupported systems and developing a viable approach to extract, convert, and preserve clinically relevant data.
Experience working with:
Proprietary or encrypted healthcare application data
Developing custom extraction or workaround approaches when vendor support is unavailable
Ability to operate in:
Isolated / non-networked environments (e.g., systems requiring physical access or manual data transfer)
Strong understanding of: PHI handling, data integrity, and healthcare data compliance considerations

Experience with :
EKG or cardiology systems (waveform data extraction and conversion)
Healthcare archives, EMRs, or clinical data repositories
Familiarity with legacy infrastructure:
End-of-life Windows environments
Air-gapped or restricted-access systems

Experience with similar projects involving:
Imaging systems (e.g., AGFA, PACS)
Clinical device data extraction
Additional Skills & Qualifications

Key Responsibilities
Assess and analyze a legacy Cardio Perfect EKG system (standalone server + workstation)
Evaluate database accessibility and structure within an unsupported SQL Server environment
Develop and execute a strategy for:
Extracting patient and EKG data (including waveform data where applicable)
Overcoming encryption or proprietary format barriers
Transform extracted data into a readable and archive-compatible format
Ensure data integrity and completeness throughout extraction and conversion
Collaborate with internal IT and clinical stakeholders to validate outputs
Provide documentation and recommendations for long-term archival access
Deliver an initial feasibility assessment, timeline, and approach before full execution

Required Qualifications (Must-Haves)
Direct experience with Welch Allyn Cardio Perfect Workstation
OR demonstrable experience extracting data from similar legacy cardiology/clinical systems
Strong hands-on experience with:
SQL Server (including legacy versions such as SQL Server 2012)
Querying, extracting, and analyzing poorly documented or unsupported databases
Proven track record delivering:
Healthcare data migration, archival, or legacy system decommissioning projects

This is a Contract position based out of Providence, RI.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr.
