Summary:
Reports to the Manager OR Support Services. Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Operating Room Assistants and Housekeeping Aides in perioperative services. Responsible for ordering supplies and maintaining pre-established par levels in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) and for anesthesia. Performs functions for the general purpose of providing a clean and efficient Perioperative environment for patients surgeons anesthesia personnel employees and visitors.

- Assist with training and orientation of new employees and provide day-to-day functional guidelines.
- Recommend disciplinary action to the Manager. Coordinate hiring and dismissal of employees with designated HR partner and Manager.
- Fill in for the Perioperative Support Services Manager on days off, weekends, vacation, or sickness; oversee the complete operation of the designated area.
- Prepare daily assignment schedules; complete employee performance evaluations; maintain attendance reports and daily control sheets; develop a 4-week rolling schedule for Perioperative staff.
- Oversee ordering of Anesthesia supplies for 36 operating rooms in assigned areas; order or obtain additional supplies as needed.
- Perform quality control inspections; check the quality of linen and ensure all employees perform duties safely and promptly.
- Provide current and best-practice training and education for all orientees; consistently provide feedback during orientation for OR Assistants and Housekeeping Aides; maintain orientation logs and document regularly during training; escalate issues to Manager when necessary.
- Supervise sterility of 36 operating rooms; ensure proper aseptic techniques for cleaning and maintenance; perform duties safely and professionally in line with department policies.
- Collaborate with physicians, staff, peers, and administration to continually update support system standards.
- Basic knowledge: High School graduate or equivalent; ability to perform basic numerical calculations and productivity analysis.
- Supervisory and interpersonal skills to interact with departments, discuss needs, resolve problems, and coordinate/direct activities of a small service personnel team.
- Knowledge of department functions to assess user needs, determine priorities, evaluate effectiveness, and recommend policy changes.
- Knowledge of personal computers and related software.
- Competent in AORN standards relevant to maintenance and cleaning in the Perioperative environment.
- Experience: One to two years of on-the-job experience in department policies, procedures, and materials handling.

Physical Requirements:
Continuous walking, standing, and bending; frequent heavy lifting; exposure to varying temperatures, lint, and odors; ability to safely operate power equipment used to maintain the Perioperative environment. - Independent Action: Performs independently within department policies and practices; refers complex problems to the OR Support Services Manager for clarification.
- Supervisory Responsibility: Day-to-day oversight of employees as a shift lead.
