Executive Director — Hall Keen Assisted Living Communities, Providence, Rhode Island, United States
About this positionThe Executive Director is responsible for leading the day-to-day operations of the Community, including full P&L responsibility. The Executive Director plans, implements, and evaluates all aspects of operations, recruits and trains Department Heads, supervises employees to create a high-functioning team, maintains a customer-focused environment, and ensures compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. The role focuses on creating a safe working and living environment.
Responsibilities- Lead the development and implementation of all strategies for the community consistent with Hall Keen Assisted Living Communities’ corporate objectives. Regularly communicates performance with Regional Vice President or Regional Director of Operations.
- Develop and implement strategies regarding labor, occupancy, mix, expenses, and quality of services; review and redirect activity as needed.
- Ensure adherence to the Resident’s Bill of Rights.
- Interview, hire, orient, train, supervise, discipline and evaluate staff in compliance with EOEA regulations and company policies.
- Assess resident needs in relation to staff needs to determine priorities in an ongoing evaluation program.
- Comply with all aspects of operations, including personnel practices, in accordance with company policies and federal, state, and local regulations.
- Assist in the development of operational budgets and capital requirements, including forecasting and approving expenses.
- Act as liaison between field operations and corporate office, fostering strong relationships with corporate resources.
- Engage in local community activities and establish networks and resources for resident and employee referrals.
- Review building construction and preventative maintenance; make recommendations as needed.
- Be able to work in various positions at the community and fill in as needed.
- Build a high-performing team and maintain high morale.
- Meet financial management requirements for the community.
- Maintain a safe working and living environment in compliance with OSHA and EOEA regulations.
- Perform scheduled marketing activities resulting in increased census.
- Ensure move-in and leasing processes are complete, accurate, and compliant with Fair Housing and EOEA regulations and standards.
- May perform other duties as assigned.
- Licensed as an administrator for assisted living in Rhode Island
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or related field
- Five to seven years of related business experience in skilled nursing, assisted living, or retirement living facility/community management; proven track record of building sales and meeting financial goals
- Three to five years’ experience in operations management with success in meeting financial goals related to retirement living, assisted living, long-term care, or related fields
- Experience operating or maintaining a quality, customer-service workforce
- Experience in recruiting and training others
- Understanding of facilities management
- Solid performance management skills, including setting expectations, documenting performance, coaching, and completing performance management steps
- Basic knowledge of computer systems, particularly Microsoft Excel and Word
- Valid driver’s license
