We have an exciting opportunity for a CALIBRATION TECHNICIAN at our PROVIDENCE, RI location.
Objectives:
- Measure and certify dimensional standards to extremely tight (millionths) tolerance requirements, per the ASME standards.
- Measure and certify artifacts including master rings, master discs, air tooling, mechanical gages, hand tools and other special artifacts or customer parts as required.
- Measure geometry, surface and contour characteristics using metrology systems.
- Interface with Engineering, and Product Management / Marketing personnel to review and recommend changes / improvements to work procedures and processes.
- Work with customers to understand and satisfy their measurement and calibration needs.
- Review prints and provide quoted solutions to their requirements.
- Maintain written procedures to comply with company's and lab's accreditations.
- Monitor the lab's environment including temperature, humidity and vibration isolation.
- More than 2 years' experience in calibration techniques, involving millionths measurement, using a wide variety of gaging equipment and metrology systems.
- The use of considerable judgment to plan and perform exacting and difficult work in order to make broad decisions involving good metrology sense.
- Strong communication skills and a working knowledge of computers, using Microsoft Office products.
- The ability to use advanced shop math, complicated drawings, specifications, charts, tables and handbook formulas.
