We are seeking a highly skilled, hands‑on Engineering & Quality Manager to lead our client’s engineering and quality functions in a fast‑paced precision manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for developing and improving manufacturing processes, supporting production, overseeing quality systems, and driving continuous improvement while maintaining the highest standards of precision and consistency.

The ideal candidate has extensive CNC machining and programming experience, thrives on solving technical problems, and is comfortable spending significant time on the shop floor working alongside machinists, setup personnel, and production staff.

  • Develop, optimize, and document CNC machining processes for precision firearm components and barrels.
  • Create, modify, and optimize CNC programs for multi‑axis lathes and machining centers.
  • Design and improve tooling, fixturing, work holding, and machining strategies to maximize efficiency and repeatability.
  • Troubleshoot machining, tooling, programming, and production issues to minimize downtime.
  • Lead new product introductions from prototype through production.
  • Develop manufacturing routings, setup documentation, tooling lists, and work instructions.
  • Evaluate new equipment, tooling, and manufacturing technologies.
  • Collaborate with production to improve cycle times, increase throughput, and reduce manufacturing costs.
  • Support machine setup and prove‑out of new programs.
Quality
  • Manage the company’s quality management system and quality documentation.
  • Develop and maintain inspection plans, control plans, and standardized inspection procedures.
  • Analyze quality data and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Lead root cause investigations using structured problem‑solving methodologies.
  • Ensure products meet customer specifications and internal quality standards.
  • Oversee calibration of inspection and measurement equipment.
  • Monitor process capability and implement statistical process control where appropriate.
  • Work closely with production personnel to improve first‑pass yield and reduce scrap.
  • Respond to customer quality concerns and coordinate corrective actions.
Leadership
  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to machinists, programmers, inspectors, and setup personnel.
  • Establish engineering and quality priorities that support production schedules.
  • Drive Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Coordinate engineering changes and process improvements across departments.
  • Foster a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent manufacturing experience.
  • 7+ years of CNC machining experience in a precision manufacturing environment.
  • 5+ years of CNC programming experience.
  • Experience programming CNC lathes and machining centers using CAM software.
  • Strong understanding of GD&T and engineering drawings.
  • Extensive knowledge of cutting tools, work holding, feeds and speeds, and machining best practices.
  • Experience with process development and production optimization.
  • Strong understanding of precision inspection techniques and metrology.
  • Experience with root cause analysis and corrective action processes.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
  • Strong communication and leadership abilities.
Preferred
  • Experience manufacturing firearm components or other high‑precision machined products.
  • Experience with Swiss machining, multi‑axis CNC equipment, or mill‑turn technology.
  • Experience with quality systems such as ISO 9001.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Experience with CMM programming and operation.
  • Experience using ERP/MRP systems.
