The Center for Health and Justice Transformation (CHJT) at Brown University Health advances health equity for individuals and communities impacted by the criminal legal system. CHJT’s ongoing initiatives are focused on enhancing medical services for currently and formerly incarcerated patients; strengthening the prison reentry system in Rhode Island; and promoting policies and practices that improve health impacts for those involved with the criminal legal system.
The criminal justice Reentry Alliance Capacity Building VISTA will strengthen the organizational backbone of the Rhode Island Reentry Alliance (RIRA), an informal but powerful statewide network of directly impacted individuals, community providers, service organizations, healthcare providers, and government partners committed to building a more effective reentry system from jail or prison in Rhode Island.
- Conduct an organizational capacity assessment to identify strengths, gaps, and opportunities for improvement
- Develop governance documents, operational templates, and standardized tools to support consistent operations
- Create and organize systems for communication, documentation, and information sharing
- Assist with the design and organization of leadership development materials and training resources
- Support partnership and resource development by maintaining contact databases and engagement calendars
