Eklego is excited to be assisting Saint Elizabeth Community in their search for a dedicated and compassionate Director of Resident Care to join a team of nursing professionals working in a direct-hire full-time position in the Providence, RI area.

The Director of Resident Care will oversee a team caring for up to 69 residents in assisted living. The Director of Resident Care is primarily responsible for the overall direction of an effective, ongoing nursing program to assess, measure, and improve quality of nursing care delivered to residents and/or patients by directing staff and other assigned professionals.

  • Enforce compliance with all administrative and Nursing Policies and Procedures.
  • Make accurate decisions and take appropriate actions especially with regard to changes in resident physical, mental or emotional status.
  • Keep the Administrator informed of resident status and other related matters.
  • Complete service care plans and keep them updated as needed.
  • Perform medication passes with CMT's as necessary.
  • Set up and conduct care conferences with residents and families as needed.
  • Monitor residents' medical records for accuracy and compliance with State regulations.
  • Complete quarterly level of care assessments.
  • Complete all residents' non-skilled treatments as ordered.
  • Receive and document any physicians' orders as required.
  • Chart appropriately on residents in the nurse's notes.
  • Complete necessary incident reports and notify the families and physicians of an incident.
  • Administer medication when needed.
  • Complete pre-admission assessments as required.
  • Recruit, interview and select nursing department personnel.
  • Assure that appropriate identification documents are presented prior to employment and that such records are maintained in the staff's personnel records.
  • Determine departmental staffing requirements as necessary to meet nursing department's needs. Assign enough nursing personnel hours for each day.
  • Schedule department work hours (including vacation and holiday schedules), personnel, work assignments, etc.
  • Develop a staffing plan for coverage during your absence from the facility.
  • Discipline nursing personnel as necessary.
  • Terminate employment of personnel, when necessary, document and coordinate such actions with the Administrator.
  • Assure that personnel perform the required duties and appropriate nursing procedures are being followed.
  • Reinforce in-service education programs and assure staff attendance.
  • Participate in programs of continuing education (seminars, training programs, etc.)
  • Assure that all nursing personnel attend required training programs as established by Health Department regulations.
What is required in this position?
  • RN graduated from an accredited registered nursing program.
  • Current Rhode Island RN License
  • Minimum of one year experience in a clinical hospital setting, skilled nursing facility or assisted living.
