Position: ADVANCED PRACTICE NURSE (NURSE PRACTITIONER)

Summary

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) – a student loan payment reimbursement program. Applicants must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit their EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program approval and award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the application.

Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply.

Responsibilities
  • The Advanced Practice Nurse (Nurse Practitioner) practices in Primary Care services at the Providence VA Medical Center, Providence, RI.
  • Provides a full range of services emphasizing quality, timeliness, and the advancement of the VA mission.
  • Manages a panel of patients with acute and chronic health conditions, focusing on health promotion and disease prevention with evidence‑based practice.
  • Develops and implements individualized plans to achieve optimal population health and disease management.
  • Provides advanced clinical practice, consultation, and management.
  • Orders and interprets diagnostic studies and prescribes pharmacologic and non‑pharmacologic interventions.
  • Initiates referrals/consults to specialty services.
  • Provides education to patients and their families and assesses and adjusts plans of care as needed to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Demonstrates leadership and works collaboratively with the Primary Care Team and other interdisciplinary team members.

Qualifications
  • One full and unrestricted license from any U.S. state or territory.
  • Full‑time position (40 hours per week). Not authorized for compressed/flexible schedule, telework, virtual, relocation recruitment incentives, or PCS.
  • Offers and EDRP are authorized; former EDRP participants are ineligible.
