Registered Nurse (Emergency Room)
This Registered Nurse (Emergency Room) position is within the Nursing, Acute Care service at the Providence VA Healthcare System located in Providence, Rhode Island. It is permanent and full-time at 40 hours per week. They provide urgent and emergent care to patients with acute and/or chronic medical, surgical, and psychiatric conditions. Nursing care ranges from basic nursing care to stabilization, resuscitation, and life-support measures.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Assesses the patient by collecting pertinent data or information;
- Triages patients based on the five-level triage system to prioritize patients that require more immediate care;
- Uses the assessment data to determine diagnoses, problems, or other concerns;
- Identifies expected outcomes to develop a collaborative and individualized plan for each patient;
- Implements plan of care including coordination, health teaching, and health promotion;
- Evaluates the progress toward achieving the expected goal and outcomes and adjusts the plan as necessary;
- Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care based on age-specific components;
- Assumes responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient education, self-management, and customer satisfaction throughout the continuum of care;
- Administers medications and procedures per established policies and guidelines; and
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Pay:

The position is full-time at 40 hours per week. The Emergency Room operates 24/7 and the work schedule is flexible to meet the needs of the unit and the facility. Rotation will be between days, evenings, nights with every-other weekend and holiday.
