Research Scientist, Clinical Research
Summary
Under the general supervision of the Principal Investigator, performs scientific investigative research in the area of heart failure self‑care, cognitive impairment, and related patient outcomes. Participates in the design of experimental protocols and research directions, develops new procedures to carry out established research objectives, analyzes heart rate variability data, administers cognitive tests, and executes protocols focused on the link between mindfulness training, vagal control, and cognitive function in patients with heart failure.
Researches literature, writes manuscripts, presentations, and grants in line with research goals and based on research performed.
- Conduct experiments and analyses according to established protocols and research methodology.
- Develop new experimental protocols to carry out established research objectives.
- Participate in the design of research protocols to enable quantitative and qualitative evaluation and interpretation of data obtained.
- Collect and analyze data using bioinformatic and statistical methodologies and software.
- Participate in the interpretation of results through conferences with supervisors and other researchers, reviewing data against hypothesis and research methodology in instances of unexplained data.
- Review literature pertaining to research being conducted in the scientific area of interest.
- Write presentations, manuscripts, and grants based on research performed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- BASIC KNOWLEDGE: MD or PhD in Psychology, Epidemiology, or a related field.
- EXPERIENCE:
Five (5) years experience in heart failure self‑care research, and/or neuropsychology and/or cardiovascular behavioral medicine. - Completion of a qualified national certification exam toward fulfillment of Rhode Island Clinical Laboratory License is desirable.
Ability to train and work with volunteers and students on projects.
Pay Range$58,489.60 - $96,491.20
