Analytical Development Scientist/Senior Scientist, Consumables
Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated Scientist to join the Technology Development group as part of the Consumables team. In this role, you will own the development and validation of analytical methods — with a primary focus on HPLC-based techniques — that underpin quality control of sample preparation consumables. You will work both independently and collaboratively on fast-paced projects, leveraging your expertise in analytical chemistry and molecular biology to build measurement infrastructure and support production processes as consumables manufacturing scales to meet commercial demand.
Position level is commensurate with experience.
- Develop, optimize, and validate HPLC methods for sample prep component and raw material analysis, including nucleotide identity and purity and small-molecule quantification
- Build and implement the QC framework for sample prep components following typical analytical method validation principles, covering a wide range of molecular biology and analytical chemistry techniques and instrumentation
- Lead preparative-scale production of sample prep components, including scale-up process development, with increasing ownership as processes are developed and documented
- Execute production of additional sample prep consumables under established protocols
- Perform incoming raw material QC and finished goods analytical checks in support of consumables release decisions
- Execute analytical time points for the sample prep component shelf-life studies, including sample management and data reporting
- Author method SOPs, qualification protocols, and analytical reports to internal documentation standards
- Participate in cross-functional projects with engineers and other scientists to advance sample preparation chemistry and quality system development goals
- Effectively communicate findings, data analysis, and recommendations to cross-functional teams and stakeholders
- PhD in analytical chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology, or related field required; >2+ years analytical development lab experience in biotech or pharma
- Demonstrated hands‑on HPLC experience including method development; experience with nucleotide, nucleoside, or small‑molecule analyte analysis is strongly preferred
- Background in genomics, nucleic acid chemistry, or molecular biology is preferred
- Proficiency in standard analytical techniques including but not limited to UV‑Vis spectrophotometry, SDS-PAGE, gel electrophoresis, and PCR
- Experience with FPLC/ÄKTA systems for preparative‑scale nucleic acid or protein purification is a plus
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to multitask in a fast‑paced startup environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required
- Competitive salary and bonus structure
- Equity stake
- Benefits include health, dental, vision,401(k) plan with 50% matchup to 6% of base salary, unlimited vacation, life insurance
