Health Economics Lead Research Analyst

Job Description:

The Health Economics Lead Research Analyst at the School of Public Health's Department of Health Services Policy & Practice joinsa vibrant team supporting the activities of the Department and itsresearch centers. The role is involved in health services and economics research to better understand and develop policies thatwill lower spending growth, improve patient outcomes, and drivestructural change in U.S. health care delivery.

Core topic areasinclude payment reform, long term care, the evolving landscape of Medicare and Medicare Advantage, commercial price growth, healthcare market structures including the impacts of consolidation and private equity ownership, and state efforts to addressaffordability and value.

The analyst will perform quantitative analyses for various center research projects. The analyst will use technical skills to helpresearchers design studies, construct databases, manage data,perform statistical programming and analysis, and interpret andreport results. Much of the work will involve secondary data analysis of various administrative datasets including health careclaims. The Health Economics Lead Research Analyst will work collaboratively with faculty-led teams in a dynamic environment that encourages independent thinking, problem solving, andcollegiality.

This position is Hybrid Eligible.

This is a fixed term position with a current end date of 6/30/2027which may be extended based upon available funding.

Education and Experience

Bachelor's Degree and 5 to 7 years experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Degrees in economics,applied economics, or closely related quantitative fields are strongly preferred.

Required Qualifications:
  • Hands-on experience implementing regression-based analysesusing statistical software
  • Training in econometrics and causal inference methods
  • Experience working with large, complex datasets
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage and validate data
  • Ability to communicate technical results clearly in written and graphical form
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working with administrative health care data (e.g.,Medicare claims, commercial claims, or electronic health records)
  • Prior experience as a research assistant or in a policy research environment
  • Familiarity with the U.S. health care system and health policytopics
