Position: Specialty Representative, Migraine - Rhode Island

Overview

Abb Vie is seeking a field-based role. The candidate should live within a reasonable distance from the primary city. The position is aligned with Abb Vie’s brand strategy and objectives, focusing on field sales performance, customer relationships, and patient-centered care while operating within Abb Vie’s business conduct, policies and all applicable laws and regulations.

Responsibilities
  • Execute brand strategy and tactics in the field and manage the assigned territory and targeted accounts to maximize short and long‑term sales performance with patient-centered focus.
  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed stated goals.
  • Create pre-call plan objectives and perform post-call evaluation to continuously improve sales performance.
  • Handle objections, misunderstandings, and concerns, and consistently gain action steps to close on every sales call.
  • Proactively understand and address customer needs, expectations, and challenges to build trusted relationships and achieve win‑win agreements.
  • Develop and execute a call plan that achieves set call metrics and optimizes coverage and frequency with key customers to maximize access and sales opportunities.
  • Continuously build knowledge of customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, market segments, disease states, products, clinical and sales expertise, and share market intelligence with in-field team, brand team and sales manager to align strategy and execution.
  • Differentiates Abb Vie’s value proposition with health providers and identify, develop, and maintain disease‑state experts and speakers/advocates to maximize brand performance.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or business-related field preferred or relevant and equivalent industry experience; in lieu of a bachelor’s degree, at least five (5) years of industry experience with three (3) or more years in the pharmaceutical/health/science industry preferred; high school diploma/GED required.
  • Demonstrates in-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge; recognized as an expert resource by stakeholders.
  • Strong business acumen and proficient use of business tools; strategic and critical thinking capabilities.
  • Ability to identify customer style/behavior and adapt selling approach; leverages findings to develop sales strategies.
  • Proven track record of success in selling with solid presentation skills; ability to operate effectively in a matrix environment; offers innovative ideas to maximize opportunities and respond to changes.
  • Influences others and is seen as a credible and respected resource; builds collaborative partnerships with district colleagues and matrix teams.
  • Leads by example with positive behaviors and peer coaching in changing environments; documented leadership experience at district, region or organizational levels.
  • Preferred: proven sales performance in relevant therapeutic areas; experience in physician/account-based selling, training, managed health care or marketing.
  • English language proficiency (verbal and written) for all non-English speaking countries.
  • Must satisfy all applicable HCIR credentialing requirements to gain and maintain entry into facilities and organizations in the assigned territory; this may include background checks, drug screens, immunization proof, fingerprinting, and licenses as required by state or city.

  • Driving a personal vehicle or company car; valid driver’s license. Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and meet safe driving requirements.
  • Compensation and benefits: base pay range described in the posting, with eligibility for short‑term incentive programs; comprehensive benefits package including paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance and 401(k) for eligible employees. Final compensation is determined by geographic location and other factors.
