Job SummaryUnder general supervision of up-line personnel involved in various types of cement construction work; operates a truck during emergencies and/or winter weather events to meet goals and objectives; and related work.
This position is a first shift 7:00 am to 3:30 pm.23.40/HR
Duties & Responsibilities- Mixes or supervises the mixing of cement in proportion proper to the type of work performed.
- Performs all operations involved in general cement construction including installations of forms, floating and finishing; pours cement into forms for the purpose of constructing cement or brick foundations, walls, and sidewalks; makes various articles of cement; rakes asphalt roads and sidewalks.
- Lays brick/block for the construction, repair, and/or adjustment of catch basins, manholes, and other appurtenant structures.
- Operates a plow and sander during winter operations.
- May supervise the work of assisting laborers.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Minimum of one (1) year experience as a cement finisher or concrete worker in the field of general construction.
- Must possess and maintain a Rhode Island Commercial Driver’s License with airbrake endorsement.
- Ability to complete Confined Space certification within six (6) months of appointment.
- Thorough knowledge of the practices, procedures, and materials used in cement construction and skill in their application and in the use of tools for cement or brick foundations, walls, or sidewalks.
- Must be able to perform all essential functions of the job.
