Entry Level Gas Line Safety Technician at Omark Consultants Inc., Providence, RI.

As a Gas Meter Checker, your primary responsibility is to inspect gas meters and underground gas lines to detect leaks and corrosion. This involves visually examining the equipment, ensuring all necessary paperwork is completed accurately, and reporting any unusual findings.

• Inspect gas meters and underground gas lines for leaks and corrosion.
• Visually examine equipment and complete required paperwork accurately.
• Arrive on time for shifts and report findings.
• Follow procedures to locate and address leaks, including punching holes with a 5‑pound plunger bar to insert probes.
• Use hand tools and utility maps to gather data.

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
• Pass a drug screen test.
• Pass a criminal background check.
• Pass the Operator Qualification Test during training.

• Ability to stand and walk for long periods on varying terrain.
• Walk 3 to 4 miles per day in various weather conditions.
• Lift heavy items and use hand tools.
• Work individually and as part of a group.
• Proficient with technology such as smartphones and tablets.

• Primarily local travel during the business day; occasional out‑of‑area travel and overnight stays may be required.

• Pay: $24.00 per hour with opportunities to earn up to $25.00 per hour based on performance.
• Signing bonus: $500 after successfully completing and passing the Operator Qualification Test.
