Job Summary

Lineman Trainees are responsible for the construction, maintenance, and installation of high voltage transmission, catenary, and signal transmission systems.

Essential Functions
  • Attaching appurtenances and relocating lines away from existing lines
  • Shifting poles requiring new foundations
  • Installing anchors and foundations
  • Shifting under traffic and moving poles with wires attached
  • Splicing existing appurtenances
  • Installing new foundations and certain designated power lines and signal transmission systems
Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum 18 years of age and high school graduate or GED equivalent
  • At least 2 years of heavy physical labor experience
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs or more
  • Valid driver's license at hire; ability to obtain CDL within 90 days
  • Basic math skills (fractions and decimals)
  • Ability to pass required training and written exams over a 24‑month period
  • Read, write, & speak English clearly; capable of telephone and radio communication
Preferred Qualifications
  • Basic climbing, rigging, and lineman experience
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and hand‑tool knowledge
  • Electronic/electrical background or education
  • Previous electric traction railroad experience
  • CDL license ownership
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
Physical Requirements / Environmental Conditions
  • Ability to understand and apply safety rules, practice safe work habits, identify safety risks, and avoid risky behaviors and situations
  • Willingness to comply with FMCSA motor vehicle record evaluation and related regulations
Compensation and Benefits

Hourly rate: $43.24 - $48.04 (subject to collective bargaining agreement). Benefits: health, dental and vision plans; wellness programs; flexible spending accounts; 401(k) retirement plan; life insurance; paid time off; educational reimbursement;
