Master Locksmith Position Purpose

Leads and works with Locksmiths employing journeyman skills in the repair, installation, and construction of locking devices and keys. This position is considered essential. Personnel may be required to respond to campus emergencies both during and off shift.

Job Qualifications & Competencies
  • Five years' full time experience as journey locksmith.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of Brown University lock and key policies and procedures.
  • Capable of being bonded.
  • Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator's license.
  • Must maintain required license(s) as a condition of employment.
  • Objective bench test and/or field test will be required.
  • Must possess a willingness and ability to support a diverse and inclusive campus community.
Additional Physical Demands and Working Conditions
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds unassisted; and to walk throughout the campus and climb stairs for the duration of the shift.
  • Ability to climb and work from ladders, lifts, scaffolding, and staging at heights up to 100 feet.
  • May be required to have the ability to work in areas needing a respirator.
  • Position is classified as on-site.
  • Position is subject to pre-employment screenings.
