Job Summary

The Youth Development Specialist ensures that clients aged 14–24 receive a coordinated, client‑centered array of services to complete education and job training programs through the Learn to Earn Program. The Specialist must possess empathy and a deep understanding of vulnerable youth populations while actively working to dismantle barriers such as poverty and limited access to opportunities.

Work Schedule

This is a full‑time, 35‑hour per week position, Monday‑Friday. Some evening hours may be required, and the role may involve travel between youth centers throughout Rhode Island, including any CCAP location.

Requirements

• Associate or bachelor’s degree (preferred)

• 2 years of experience in a related field and/or relevant life experiences

• Demonstrated case management skills and knowledge of youth development

• Strong passion for working with at‑risk and minority youth

• Ability to motivate and encourage others, even in challenging situations

• Strong knowledge and use of Microsoft and Google platforms

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

• Bilingual in English and Spanish (preferred)

• Valid driver’s license and proof of vehicle liability insurance

• Provide/maintain all required immunizations and/or vaccinations

• Complete all required background checks

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide case management to youth/young adults ages 14–24 enrolled in employment and education programs.
  • Conduct comprehensive intake and assessments on clients.
  • Monitor cases by verifying attendance, evaluating service strategies, advocating for needed services, obtaining additional resources, intervening in crises, and providing personal support.
  • Develop and guide youth through a service plan in accordance with grant provisions.
  • Track and record case information, complete necessary forms, and produce monthly attendance and case‑note reports.
  • Answer inquiries from potential program partners and incoming youth.
  • Develop ways to retain youth through motivation and encouragement.
  • Outreach and network with other youth‑serving programs and high schools.
  • Provide client support services such as advocacy, mentorship, or resources.
  • Participate in program development and workshop facilitation to encourage and motivate youth.
  • Conduct detailed evaluations on clients to develop a service plan guiding youth through our program.
  • Travel outside the office to connect and network with other youth‑serving programs and high schools across Rhode Island.
  • Create and/or implement workshops for youth—including Life Skills, College and Career Readiness, Digital Literacy, Healthy Relationships, Financial Literacy, and other topic areas as needs dictate.
