As a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist, you will provide community-based outreach and recovery support to individuals facing challenges accessing behavioral health and recovery services. You'll meet people where they are, offering person-centered guidance, advocacy, and encouragement while serving as a bridge to critical healthcare, recovery, housing, and social service resources. This role plays a vital part in promoting recovery, strengthening community connections, and supporting long-term wellness outcomes.

• Build meaningful relationships with individuals who may have limited access to recovery resources.
• Provide outreach and recovery coaching in community settings.
• Engage individuals and families through compassionate, recovery-focused support.
• Share lived experience appropriately to encourage hope, resilience, and self-determination.
• Conduct follow-up outreach and ongoing support to help individuals remain connected to services and recovery goals.
• Connect individuals with behavioral health treatment, medical care, housing resources, employment supports, benefits, and harm reduction services.
• Help participants navigate complex service systems and access the resources they need.
• Support continuity of care by accompanying individuals to appointments, treatment programs, hospitals, and community services when appropriate.
• Secure and manage required releases of information.
• Maintain confidentiality and ensure compliance with HIPAA and applicable regulations.
• Complete timely, accurate documentation and reporting requirements.
• Communicate effectively with team members and community partners to coordinate care and services.
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, case reviews, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Support clinical staff by reinforcing recovery goals and encouraging engagement.
• Assist with Naloxone (Narcan) education and overdose prevention efforts.
• Attend required trainings, meetings, and community events.
• Contribute to the overall success of the program through additional duties as needed.

• Build authentic relationships through empathy, respect, and non-judgmental communication.
• Apply recovery-oriented and trauma-informed practices in diverse community settings.
• Adapt to changing situations while using sound judgment and problem-solving skills.
• Effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced outreach environment.
• Maintain strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues, healthcare providers, and community partners.
• Inspire confidence, hope, and empowerment in others through personal recovery experience.
• Rhode Island Certified Peer Recovery Specialist credential.
• Demonstrated lived experience in recovery and the ability to professionally apply recovery principles.
• Two to three years of experience providing recovery support, street outreach, or community-based behavioral health services.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
• Rhode Island Certified Recovery Coach credential.
• Experience working within Recovery Systems of Care or SAMHSA-aligned recovery models.
• Knowledge of harm reduction and overdose prevention strategies.
• Experience supporting individuals receiving medication-assisted treatment services.

This role involves regular travel throughout the community and active outreach work. Candidates should be comfortable walking, standing, navigating a variety of community locations, lifting up to 25 pounds, and using technology and office equipment to document services and communicate effectively with clients and partners.
