Job Overview
Brown University Athletics and Recreation is seeking candidates for the Assistant Coach, Football – Wide Receivers. Located in Providence, Rhode Island, and a member of the Ivy League, our intercollegiate athletics program consists of 34 varsity teams with approximately 1,000 athletes who participate within the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA‑DI). This fixed‑term position assists the Head Coach in many phases of the Football program, with specific focus on wide receivers.
This includes coaching, recruiting, and administrative duties such as coordinating and planning practices, video analysis and instruction, and completing compliance information. This position supports all efforts to continue to attract the nation’s top football players to our Division I non‑scholarship program.
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
- One to three years of coaching experience and/or collegiate playing experience required; some collegiate coaching experience preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to motivate student‑athletes athletically and academically.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to NCAA and Ivy League rules.
- Demonstrated ability to recruit qualified student‑athletes.
- Commitment to the student‑athlete, passion for the game, and the ability to coach and motivate.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, communication (verbal & written), and computer skills.
- Ability to write, draft and edit correspondence.
- Successful candidate required to complete a criminal background and DMV check satisfactory to Brown University prior to commencing employment.
All division employees are required to demonstrate exemplary ethical conduct and conformance to NCAA rules and regulations; the duties of the position are to be performed in compliance with all NCAA, Ivy League rules and regulations; and any rule violations on behalf of themselves or knowledge of violations within the division must be reported to the compliance office and appropriate parties.
Employees in coaching positions must receive annual rules education on NCAA legislation related to recruiting by the compliance office and maintain current AED/CPR and First Aid certification (certification is available at no cost through the Division).
