About Torus

Torus is headquartered in Utah and is expanding manufacturing at our 540,000-square-foot facility in Salt Lake City called Giga One. Our mission is to build the world’s first mesh energy infrastructure — built to unite people and communities through resilient, secure, and intelligent power. We design, engineer, manufacture, install, and support our systems end-to-end, standing behind them throughout their lifecycle. Torus systems help reduce costs, lower emissions, and protect facilities from outages, while strengthening the security and reliability of the broader utility grid.

Torus is committed to American manufacturing, engineering excellence, and building energy systems that last.

At Torus, you will be part of something larger than a single product or technology. Your work will help build energy infrastructure that supports critical systems, industry, and communities for decades to come. We value accountability, collaboration, and clear thinking. We are looking for people who want to solve hard problems and build things that matter.

About

The Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Cost Accountant to join our Finance team. As a Cost Accountant, you will play a critical role in tracking, analyzing, and reporting on all costs associated with the manufacturing and installation of our products, including inventory, overhead, and installation expenses. You will work cross-functionally with our operations, supply chain, and engineering teams to ensure accurate cost data and support sound financial decision-making.

  • Analyze manufacturing overhead costs and assist in the development and maintenance of overhead allocation calculations.
  • Assist in month-end close activities, including preparation of cost-related journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
  • Collaborate with the Supply Chain, Operations and Net Suite teams to ensure accurate job costing and project cost tracking for product installations.
  • Prepare and distribute regular cost reports and dashboards to support management decision-making.
  • Assist in annual budgeting and forecasting processes as they relate to cost of goods sold and operational expenses.
  • Support internal and external audits by maintaining well-organized and accurate cost accounting records.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Experience

  • 2–5+ years of relative accounting experience.
  • Solid understanding of cost accounting principles, including inventory costing, and overhead allocation.
  • Experience using ERP systems for cost and inventory accounting. Net Suite experience preferred.

Preferred Experience

  • CPA or CMA certification, or progress toward certification, is a plus.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or inventory-based environment.
  • Experience using Net Suite for cost and inventory accounting.
  • Working knowledge of month-end close procedures, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
  • Experience with job costing and project-based cost tracking.
  • Ability to analyze cost variances and communicate findings clearly to non-accounting stakeholders.
  • Experience collaborating with operations, supply chain, and engineering teams.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and financial modeling.
