About Utah Valley RefugeesEstablished in 2016, Utah Valley Refugees is a private, nonprofit organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the IRS Code and a collaborative community partnership that works to improve the lives of refugees and immigrants adjusting to life in Utah County. We provide services such as affordable housing and medical care, employment and educational services for qualified low-income refugees living in Utah County.
Our mission is to empower refugees in their quest to become self-reliant.
The Utah Valley Refugees Accountant is responsible for managing both income and expense reports, and reimbursements, as well as entering financial transactions into our internal databases (Quick Books) and reconciling bank statements and invoices. Help prepare monthly/quarterly/ or annual financial reports and reports to the executive director, board of directors, and perform other duties as assigned by the executive director. This role is office-based and requires regular in-person engagement.
The accountant will work collaboratively with UVR leadership, program staff, and grant personnel. Flexible scheduling is available within organizational needs.
- Accounting and Financial Operations
- Maintain accurate financial records in Quick Books.
- Record, categorize, and reconcile financial transactions on a recurring basis.
- Reconcile bank accounts, invoices, and internal records monthly.
- Prepare expense reports and supporting documentation.
- Process staff reimbursement requests in accordance with organizational policy.
- Maintain restricted and unrestricted cash accounts.
- Payroll Administration
- Support payroll processing through Quick Books Payroll.
- Review payroll entries for accuracy and compliance.
- Financial Reporting
- Prepare financial summaries for leadership and the Board of Directors.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Prepare grant-related financial documentation.
- Collaborate with grant writers on budgets and reporting.
- Donor and Compliance Support
- Prepare monthly donor acknowledgments and annual tax statements.
- Ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting standards and donor restrictions.
- Support financial transparency and audit readiness.
A high school diploma and bachelor’s degree in accounting or experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with standard accounting concepts, practices, systems, and procedures. In addition to the above qualifications, this position requires:
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and Word.
- Professional experience using Quick Books Online.
- Strong analytical skills, discretion, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work in person
Preference given to those with non-profit accounting experience.
