This is a pooled position. The department reviews applications as positions become available. You are employed as an Adjunct Faculty member/Instructor on a contract-to-contract basis, with no future expectation or obligation for employment. Your employment may be terminated At Will at any time.
Responsibilities- Maintain in-depth knowledge of industrial automation topics
- Programming PLCs, HMIs, and VFDs
- Good mechanical aptitude
- Understanding of electrical circuits as they relate to automation
- Instruct students through self-paced labs, and ensure course learning outcomes are met
- Create an effective, supportive learning environment for Salt Lake Technical College students
- Evaluate student learning through labs and assignments
- Maintain student performance records
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
- Work without close supervision in a team with diverse membership, take initiative and resolve problems
- Work within a prescribed curriculum and departmental procedures while maintaining patience, creativity, and cooperative attitude
- Maintain an excellent attendance record and positive attitude
- Communicate effectively with a broad range of people with diverse abilities and backgrounds to maintain good working relationships across the College
- Work with all groups from various academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, and with community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities
All Faculty will maintain an on-site campus presence to encourage in-person relationships and create engaging, meaningful, and impactful learning experiences unless approved for online-only courses.
ScheduleCourses taught from 7am-1pm or from 3pm-9pm at the Westpointe Campus. Other schedules may be evaluated.

Minimum QualificationsSalt Lake Technical College or equivalent certificate in Automation Technology and 4 years of relevant industry experience, OR 6 years of relevant industry experience.
Preferred QualificationsSalt Lake Technical College or equivalent certificate in Automation Technology and 6 years of relevant industry experience.
