Required Degree: MA Degree in Arabic language, linguistics, literature, pedagogy, or a related field.

The required degree must be completed by the start date.

Experience:

* Experience teaching Arabic as a second language, preferably at the college level.

* Advanced proficiency in English

* Proficiency in computer-based software, including Microsoft Office and internet applications.

* Experience using Learning Management Systems (LMS), such as BYU's Learning Suite, or the ability to learn such systems quickly.

* Willingness to participate in training and professional development in language pedagogy and second-language acquisition.

* Familiarity with language-proficiency assessment criteria and experience developing fair and accurate testing procedures.

* Knowledge of Second Language Acquisition (SLA) theory and language-teaching pedagogy to develop curriculum materials and lesson plans, particularly in contexts where commercially published instructional materials are limited.

Duties/Expectations:

* Teach ARAB 495.

* Provide individual and small-group instruction to support student learning and reinforce course content.

* Participate in professional development workshops and implement recommendations for instructional improvement.

* Develop a course syllabus and upload course materials to BYU Learning Suite.

* Respond promptly and professionally to communications and assignments from the Asian & Near Eastern Languages Department.
