Mechanical Engineering Undergraduate Advisor (part-time 28 hours/week)
Join our team as a Mechanical Engineering Academic Advisor and play a key role in guiding students through a dynamic and academically engaging program. In this highly impactful role, you will help students navigate academic requirements, plan their path to graduation, and connect with opportunities that enrich their educational experience. We’re looking for a collaborative, student-focused professional who is energized by helping students succeed and thrive.

What you’ll do in this position:

Academic Advising Deliver comprehensive, student-centered advising to prospective and current Mechanical Engineering students, including guidance on program admission, degree requirements, course sequencing, electives, emphases, minors, and petitions.

Support student success through individualized academic planning, registration assistance, and proactive outreach to students, including those on academic warning or probation.

Maintain and ensure accuracy of student records and program information, including graduation application reviews, transfer and course equivalencies, catalog updates, MAP reviews, and advising systems.

Lead and coordinate key advising initiatives such as new student orientation, classroom presentations, faculty advisor assignments, graduate school preparation events, and admissions processes for the professional program.

Collaborate with faculty and campus partners to deliver a cohesive advising experience, while connecting students with internships, research opportunities, wellness resources, and student engagement activities.

Professional Engagement & Development Participate in departmental committees and student engagement efforts to strengthen connection and community within the Mechanical Engineering program.

Stay current on curriculum, policies, and advising best practices through training, campus meetings, and professional development opportunities.

What qualifies you for this role:

Required

A firm commitment to the mission of BYUBS degree with 1-3 years of experience working with students

Preferred

Advisement certification or equivalent graduate course work
