Required Degree: A PhD in family studies, human development, developmental psychology, marriage and family therapy, or related discipline. The required degree must be completed by the start date.
Experience:
Those with established academic or professional careers are encouraged to apply, as well as outstanding new PhDs or ABDs who will complete their degrees by the start date. Demonstrated teaching ability as well as evidence of scholarly capacity and achievement in the field are required.
Duties/Expectations:
The School of Family Life is seeking a talented scholar-teacher to fill one professorial faculty position to focus primarily on our Human Development program. Rank is determined commensurate with experience. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, publishing high quality research, student mentoring, involvement in public scholarship (for senior faculty), and providing service on program, school, college, and university committees.
Description of the School of Family Life: ( (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). ) The School of Family Life (SFL), in the College of Family, Home, and Social Sciences, is one of the largest and most dynamic programs of its kind. SFL offers two undergraduate majors:
Family Life, with emphases in Human Development and Family Studies, and Family and Consumer Sciences Education. The school has more than 40 full-time faculty members and over 1,500 undergraduate majors and minors. SFL also offers an MS degree in Marriage, Family, and Human Development, and MS and Ph.D. degrees in Marriage and Family Therapy. There are approximately 60 students in the MS or Ph.D. programs in SFL.
Brigham Young University is one of the largest private universities in the U.S. and is sponsored by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The university has approximately 33,000 students and 1,300 faculty. It is located at the foot of the Wasatch Mountain range in Provo, Utah, a community of approximately 100,000.
