AmeriCorps STEM Specialist - Utah County

Utah County is hiring for 11 Ameri Corps STEM Specialists for the upcoming school year . The 11 locations are located throughout Utah County.

The Ameri Corps STEM Specialist will work approximately 12-16 hours each week assisting with hands‑on, informal STEM education at Boys & Girls Clubs. The schedule is from Monday through Friday, 2-6 PM, from mid‑August 2026 to the end of May 2027.

The selected individual will serve as an Ameri Corps member—a national service opportunity, not a regular job. Members agree to complete a minimum of 300 service hours for each term:
August–December 2026 and January–May 2027.

Living allowance: $4,800 paid bi‑weekly during each term of service (not hourly). Upon successful completion, an Education Award of $1,565.08 will be awarded (post‑service benefit for qualifying students).

• Lead STEM lessons during allocated time each week
• Maintain lesson‑plan records and track number of students served
• Complete weekly timesheets and a monthly report
• Evaluate student progress using surveys & rubrics

• Build positive relationships with youth, families, school staff, and teammates
• Promote and stimulate program participation
• Provide guidance and role modeling to members
• Ensure members receive instruction and constructive feedback to develop skills across program areas
• Demonstrate leadership to assure conduct, safety, and development of members

• Effectively implement and administer programs, services, and activities for all members and visitors
• Monitor and evaluate program services and activities
• Oversee member safety, program quality, and organization appearance at all times

• Supervise and ensure safety during indoor and outdoor activities
• Participate in weekly organization staff meetings to maintain a productive work environment

• May participate in special programs and/or events
• Participate in weekly staff meetings and all grant‑required training

• 18+ years of age
• United States citizen or legal permanent resident
• High school diploma or GED
• Meet the requirements set by the Corporation for National and Community Service
• Experience working with children
• Knowledge of youth development
• Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior problems
• Ability to work with schools and the general public
• Plan and implement quality programs for youth
• Organize and supervise members in a safe environment
• CPR and First Aid certifications may be required
• Valid state driver’s license
• Preference for individuals with educational or work experience related to science, technology, engineering, math, teaching, and/or education
