Required Degree:

A Master’s or PhD in Human Development, Family Studies, Marriage and Family Therapy, or arelated field is required.

The required degree must be completed by the start date.

Experience:

Teaching experience at the university level in Human Development, Family Studies, or Marriage and Family Therapy is preferred.

Duties/Expectations:

Successful applicants will teach SFL 357:
Therapeutic Play Foundations, a 3-credit independent study class and/or day class to undergraduate students. Successful applicants should plan to be:

  • Responsive to students

  • Grading with substantive feedback within 7 days

  • Comfortable with technology

  • Imaginative about using online formats in new ways

  • Passionate about connecting with students

  • Organized and careful about time management

  • Devoted to learning

  • Attentive to details

  • Excellent at oral and written communication

  • Able to teach in different modalities

By the end of the semester students in this class should be able to:
  • Explain Play Principles and Distinguish Between Licensed and Unlicensed Therapeutic Play

  • Analyze Benefits and Process of Communication and Learning Through Play

  • Examine Play Modalities and Facilitative Skills

  • Evaluate Relationships and Connection in Play

  • Implement Effective Responses to Children and Boundaries in Play

  • Design Supportive Play Environments and Experiences
