Required DegreeMaster of Music (MM) in Music Education or Instrumental Conducting
The required degree must be completed by the start date.
Experience- A record of successful work with athletic bands
- A record of successful work teaching/conducting concert bands
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- A record of successful collegiate-level athletic band teaching is preferred
- A record of success in secondary school band directing experience is preferred
- Rehearse and direct the BYU Cougar Marching Band and ROC (basketball) Bands
- Rehearse and conduct a University Band in the Winter semester
- Administer the activities, personnel, and instrument/uniform inventory of a large university athletic band program
- Teach Marching Band Techniques and other related courses in the School of Music based upon skills and experience
- Serve as an ambassador of BYU and the School of Music
- Recruit for the BYU Band Program
- Work collaboratively with the BYU Director of Bands in the administration of the BYU band program
- Serve on department, college, and university committees as assigned
- Post-season travel for athletic events
- Perform for campus events as needed
This position requires the successful candidate to relocate and/or reside in Utah for the duration of their employment.
