WHAT YOU’LL DO IN THIS POSITION

Job Summary:

This 0.2 FTE part-time clinical faculty leadership appointment serves as the academic and administrative leader for Pediatrics within the Department of Preventative and Restorative Care at the Brigham Young University School of Medicine. In close partnership with the Department Chair and clinical faculty , the Associate Chair develops, implements, and continuously improves educational and scholarly activities within the division. The role supports faculty recruitment, mentoring, instructional excellence, curriculum design and evaluation, student assessment, and faculty professional development and recognition in alignment with institutional standards, accreditation expectations, and the mission and strategic priorities of the School of Medicine.

Duties and Expectations:

Collaborate with the Department Chair and the Director of Phase 2 Curriculum to recruit , develop, and retain qualified, mission-aligned faculty for Pediatrics .Mentor and support faculty in teaching, assessment, academic advancement, scholarship, and professional development.

Coordinate and support delivery of educational content for pre-clerkship, clerkship, advanced clinical experiences, and longitudinal clinical experiences in Pediatrics .Participate and help train faculty to provide timely , high-quality student assessments and narrative evaluations in alignment with institutional expectations.

Participate in the generation of departmental letters of recommendation, including chair letters, for students applying to residency.

Coordinate with the specialty clerkship director in the continuous improvement processes, including course and clerkship reviews and responses to student feedback .Represent the division in departmental and institutional committees, work groups, accreditation activities, and other assignments as requested.

Promote a spiritually grounded, scientifically rigorous, and learner-centered educational environment consistent with the mission of the School of Medicine.

WHAT QUALIFIES YOU FOR THIS ROLE Required Degree: MD, DO . The required degree must be completed by the start date.

Experience:

Board certification or eligibility in Pediatrics or an appropriate Pediatrics subspecialty.

Academic or clinical leadership experience in medical education, faculty development, curriculum delivery, assessment, or related areas.

Demonstrated excellence in teaching medical students, residents, fellows, or other health- professions learners.

Experience mentoring medical education faculty , supporting scholarly activity, and assisting with professional advancement.

Commitment to the mission of Brigham Young University and the School of Medicine, including mission-aligned service, professionalism, and collaboration.

Appointment to this position will require Ecclesiastical Endorsement , and the applicant will be expected to abide by the Church Education System Code of Conduct.
