Overview
Position Title: Water Superintendent

Provo City is hiring a full-time Water Superintendent to direct the operations of the drinking water sources and distribution systems of the Provo Public Works department. This position has management and responsibility for all drinking water sources sections, distribution, construction, maintenance, water quality management, treatment, and asset management. Pay Range: (G40) $104,872 - $144,567 per year (annualized rate, pay is made in bi-weekly installments)

- Direct, administer, and oversee all municipal drinking water sources, treatment facilities, distribution systems, maintenance activities, and asset management programs.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable federal and state drinking water laws, regulations, permits, and standards, including required inspections, monitoring, and corrective actions.
- Prepare, review, and submit all required monthly, annual, and special reports to regulatory agencies; maintain accurate operational and compliance records.
- Analyze water quality data to evaluate system performance and implement process improvements and corrective measures.
- Develop, administer, and monitor the drinking water operating and capital budgets; authorize expenditures in accordance with municipal policy.
- Plan, prioritize, and oversee short- and long-term capital improvement projects, including system rehabilitation, replacement, and expansion.
- Review and approve engineering plans, technical specifications, cost estimates, bid documents, and vendor submittals related to drinking water infrastructure.
- Develop, implement, and enforce policies, procedures, and standards governing drinking water system operations and water resource management.
- Supervise, train, and evaluate assigned personnel.
- Oversee staffing, scheduling, performance management, and disciplinary actions in accordance with city policies.
- Serve as the technical authority and public liaison for municipal drinking water systems, responding to inquiries, complaints, and providing technical information.
- Perform other related duties as required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Water Resources Management, Civil Engineering, Public Administration, or related field.
- Four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in water engineering or operations or related field.
- Valid, lawful Driver License.
- Utah State Grade IV Water Distribution Certification and DRC Certification preferred.

Applicants with unsatisfactory drug screen results will be ineligible for appointment or application to any Provo City position for a minimum period of six (6) months.
