Systems Engineer, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Design & Technologists
Torus is headquartered in Utah and is expanding manufacturing at our 540,000-square-foot facility in Salt Lake City called Giga One. Our missionis to build the world’s first mesh energy infrastructure — built to unite people and communities through resilient, secure, and intelligent power. We design, engineer, manufacture, install, and support our systems end-to-end, standing behind them throughout their lifecycle. Torus systems help reduce costs, lower emissions, and protect facilities from outages, while strengthening the security and reliability of the broader utility grid.
Torus is committed to American manufacturing, engineering excellence, and building energy systems that last.
At Torus, you will be part of something larger than a single product or technology. Your work will help build energy infrastructure that supports critical systems, industry, and communities for decades to come. We value accountability, collaboration, and clear thinking. We are looking for people who want to solve hard problems and build things that matter.
About the RoleAs the Director of Energy Storage Design , you will lead and scale Torus' design engineering organization across commercial, industrial, and utility-scale projects. You will manage a team of Energy Storage Design Engineers responsible for site assessments, preliminary system designs, and customer relationships from initial site visit through installation completion. This role requires building design standards, customer handoff processes, and quality control systems to support aggressive growth targets while maintaining the highest technical standards and customer satisfaction.
WhoYou Are
You are a proven leader who builds high-performing technical teams through clear expectations, mentorship, and accountability. You create systems and standards that allow engineers to execute with excellence while maintaining the flexibility to solve unique customer challenges.
You think systematically about design operations, translating business objectives into scalable processes, reusable design standards, and measurable quality metrics. You identify bottlenecks in the design-to-installation workflow and implement solutions that improve speed without sacrificing quality.
You communicate with clarity and precision across all levels—from engineers to executives to customers. You ensure technical solutions are translated into compelling value propositions that win business and satisfy customers.
You take full ownership of outcomes. Your team's designs enable successful installations, satisfied customers, and profitable projects. When issues arise, you step in, solve them, and improve processes to prevent recurrence.
