Job Overview
ICBM Physical Security Systems Engineer combines technical skills with big‑picture thinking to enhance Nuclear Weapon System Safety. The team analyzes and evaluates Air Force nuclear weapon system designs to support safety and certification, focusing on robust physical security systems that protect high‑value facilities and assets.
Responsibilities- Analyze design data, specifications, models, and drawings to inform weapon system security.
- Develop Technical Nuclear Safety Analyses (TNSA), Independent Nuclear Safety Evaluations (INSE), and technical research papers.
- Assist with presenting results and reviewing weapon system safety artifacts for compliance with government requirements.
- Conduct tasks following established plans and quality standards, continuously improving processes and advancing the discipline of nuclear weapon safety.
- 3+ years of experience designing physical security controls for high‑security facilities.
- 2+ years of experience evaluating, validating, or verifying system requirements.
- Experience analyzing engineering data, including specifications, models, and drawings.
- Experience using Model‑Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and SysML.
- Ability to communicate advanced engineering concepts clearly to non‑technical individuals.
- Secret clearance (or eligibility to obtain one).
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering field.
- Experience performing system safety analyses (hazard analysis, fault‑tree analysis, probabilistic risk assessment, failure‑mode effects analysis, and criticality analysis).
- Experience with requirements traceability.
- Experience in a DoD acquisition environment.
- Knowledge of DAFMANs 91‑118, 91‑119 and DAFIs 91‑101, 63‑125.
- Knowledge of DoD or Air Force ICBM or nuclear weapon security policies.
- Top‑Secret clearance.
- Master’s degree.
Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information;
Secret clearance is required.
Salary range: $86,800.00 to $ (annualized USD). Compensation is determined by location, experience, and contract affordability.
