Responsible for the management, direction, and development of all mortgage production activities and operations. Provides leadership for the Credit Union’s overall growth and development. Oversees loan extension, underwriting, processing, closing, shipping, and funding functions. Ensures compliance with established policies, procedures, and legal requirements, delivering maximum volume, appropriate profit, and minimum delinquency ratios, repurchases, and investor penalties. Trains, directs, and appraises assigned personnel, ensuring professional and efficient service delivery and prompt resolution of members’ problems.
ESSENTIALFUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
- Assists the CLO in developing short- and long‑term goals and plans for the Mortgage Department; assists with budgeting and provides suggestions and recommendations.
- Develops policies and procedures for loan activities; conducts periodic reviews of existing systems to ensure maximum efficiency and legal compliance; initiates improvements in lending and funding practices.
- Executes established operational goals, ensuring corporate-wide objectives are complemented and supported.
- Monitors and evaluates work quality, efficiency, and productivity to maintain optimal efficiency in lending activities.
- Tracks workflow and ensures deadlines are consistently met.
- Coordinates, schedules, and directs Department functions.
- Ensures lending functions comply with established policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
- Ensures Department activities effectively acquaint members with credit alternatives.
- Performs and assists with complex mortgage functions as necessary.
- Provides leadership through objective setting, delegation, and communication; conducts staff meetings and informs personnel of policy changes.
- Ensures personnel are well‑trained and effective; identifies training needs and develops appropriate training programs; conducts training sessions and cross‑trains as appropriate.
- Ensures staffing levels are appropriate; interviews, hires, and assigns personnel.
- Conducts performance appraisals; implements corrective actions as needed; sets individual goals with staff to assist them in achieving full potential.
- Assists, supports, and serves personnel as needed.
- Responds promptly and courteously to requests and questions.
- Ensures members are properly informed of Credit Union loan policies and procedures.
- Maintains the Credit Union’s professional reputation internally and externally.
- Represents the Credit Union in contacts with business and trade professionals.
- Assists and supports personnel as needed.
- Keeps management informed of area activities and significant concerns.
- Attends and participates in meetings as required.
- Completes reports and records.
- Ensures the work area is clean, secure, and well maintained.
- Stays informed regarding developments and changes in the mortgage field.
- Assists with publicity, education, and promotion of the Credit Union; cross‑sells services.
- Completes special projects as assigned.
- Maintains a regular and predictable schedule.
