Position Summary
Elevate Health Sciences is seeking a Quoting & Margin Analyst to support both our commercial quoting activities and our ongoing focus on manufacturing profitability. This position combines customer quoting, cost analysis, pricing, and financial analysis. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate and timely customer quotations while also analyzing the factors that drive product and customer margins. This includes monitoring purchase price variance (PPV), production run speeds, cost changes, and other manufacturing performance indicators and using that information to identify opportunities to improve pricing and profitability.
The ideal candidate will have a strong analytical and financial mindset, with experience in accounting, finance, cost analysis, pricing, or manufacturing operations. This person should be comfortable working with detailed cost information, building and analyzing Excel models, identifying trends and variances, and translating financial and operational data into practical pricing recommendations. Approximately 75% of the role will focus on quoting and pricing activities, with approximately 25% focused on margin analysis, forecasting, and profitability improvement.
- Analyze customer inquiries and prepare accurate, timely, and competitive quotations.
- Develop pricing using raw material costs, labor requirements, production assumptions, and other relevant cost inputs.
- Coordinate with Sales, R&D, Operations, Purchasing, and other departments to obtain the information necessary to prepare quotations.
- Review quote assumptions for accuracy and identify potential cost or margin risks before quotes are submitted.
- Track and manage multiple quotations simultaneously while meeting established service levels and deadlines.
- Maintain accurate quote records and pricing information.
- Analyze historical pricing and costs to support future quotations and pricing decisions.
- Identify opportunities to improve quoting consistency, accuracy, and efficiency.
- Communicate pricing assumptions and recommendations to management and other internal stakeholders.
- Monitor product and customer margins, identifying significant changes and areas of margin erosion.
- Analyze purchase price variance (PPV), production run speeds, and other cost and manufacturing performance variances that impact profitability.
- Compare quoted costs and margins to actual or reported results and identify significant variances and their causes.
- Analyze the financial impact of changes in raw material costs, production performance, labor, pricing, and other cost drivers.
- Recommend pricing changes when costs, production performance, or expected margins warrant them.
- Identify products, customers, or orders where pricing may no longer support targeted margins.
- Work with Operations, Purchasing, Sales, and Finance/Accounting to investigate margin variances and develop corrective actions.
- Forecast expected margins based on planned customer shipments and production activity.
- Compare forecasted margins with reported/actual margins and explain material differences.
- Develop and maintain Excel-based analyses, models, reports, and dashboards to monitor profitability, pricing, costs, and variance trends.
- Analyze and communicate the financial impact of operational and commercial decisions, providing recommendations to management.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field preferred.
- Experience in accounting, finance, cost accounting, financial analysis, pricing analysis, or a related analytical role.
- Manufacturing experience strongly preferred.
- Experience analyzing product costs, margins, variances, or profitability preferred.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to analyze large amounts of data and build financial models and reports.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a demonstrated ability to identify trends, investigate variances, and determine their financial impact.
- Ability to understand how operational factors such as material costs and production performance affect financial results.
- Strong attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
