Overview
Summary:
This Direct Support Professional (DSP) role is the heart of our company! As a DSP you could serve in one of our communities or in-home programs. The individuals we serve may need your help with tasks of daily living and to develop social, physical and emotional skill sets. Specific individual care plans are followed as we change lives together!
- Promotes a positive work environment where keeping services safe, happy, and healthy for clients and employees alike is paramount.
- Comprehensive supervision and engagement of all assigned client(s) according to their individual care plan.
- Completes personnel-required compliance documentation in a timely manner.
- Completes required compliance training in a timely manner (including Huddles, SOAR and CPR training).
- Completes all required client care documentation.
- Is on time and ready to work for all assigned shifts.
- Supports clients with activities of daily living (ADL), bathrooms, hygiene, eating, etc.
- Provides clear and timely communication to leadership.
- Updates care team with changes in clients level of care or needs.
- Maintains a positive disposition with clients and co-workers.
- Maintains reliable transportation.
- Able to travel up to 50 miles for shifts as needed.
- Works respectfully with the client care team.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Experience caring for people with disabilities
Physical Requirements- Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, and walking.
- Ability to work in conditions with cats/dogs/pets or submit a medical accommodation of a pet allergy.
- Has the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, use mechanical lifts where required and transfer individuals correctly.
- Must be alert, attentive and not easily distracted as we often work with individuals or in large groups of clients with high energy, escape threats, aggressive emotions, and challenging behavior.
- Ability to safely transport 1 - 4 clients throughout each scheduled shift.
