Overview
The RN Clinical Expanded Role I is responsible for implementing and supporting special clinical projects and assignments as designated by the manager, according to the needs of the department. This position acts as a resource to the RN Staff position as a knowledge expert to improve patient care.
Responsibilities- Assess physical, social and psychological status (including cognitive, communicative and developmental skills as appropriate).
- Seek and evaluate information from the interdisciplinary team: patient, family, physician, non-nursing disciplines, support staff, and others.
- Plan and develop an individualized plan of care using assessment information and critical thinking.
- Actively involve patient, family, team, and physician in the plan of care, including needed education.
- Collaboratively plan and prepare patients for further support needs once the current episode of care outcomes are met (e.g., teaching, referrals, follow-up).
- Direct the interdisciplinary care team via delegation, coordination and collaboration as appropriate.
- Provide ordelegate care consistent with the plan of care, guidelines of care, and professional licensure provisions.
- Set priorities and coordinate and organize patient care delivery by managing time, supplies, and resources.
- Evaluate patient response to interventions by reviewing achievement of goals, clinical outcomes, and patient/family satisfaction; revise the plan of care as indicated and reassess changes as appropriate.
- Promote nursing professionalism and participate in the development of others; integrate legal and ethical standards into practice, comply with regulatory standards, practice within licensure, document accurately and timely, and understand legal implications of care delivery.
- Provide clinical expertise in the assigned specialty area; participate in Clinical Program initiatives and processes and monitor outcomes.
- Implement department or specialty care area projects or programs as identified; assist in policy development with corporate-wide initiatives and support standardization and development of department protocols, policies, and procedures for patient care delivery.
- Serve as department and/or specialty care area representative on committees or task forces; act as consultant/liaison to healthcare team members, patients, families and the community.
- Act as resource, consultant and mentor to staff within department or specialty care area; support in-services related to the clinical area of specialty.
- Utilize current research to recommend improvements to nursing practice and support the development of standards for nursing care of specialty patients.
- Perform ongoing tasks required to see and read information, monitor patients, operate equipment, and document care as needed.
- Current RN License in state of practice.
- Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.
- Current ACLS Certification.
- 1 year of clinical nursing experience (licensed).
- Experience in assigned clinical area.
- Mentoring experience.
RNs hired or promoted into this role need to have or obtain their BSN within three years of hire or promotion.
Preferred Qualifications- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution.
- Leadership experience.
- Current PALS Certification.
- Experience in Oncology.
- Bilingual.

Hours:
40 - The hourly range for this position is $36.71 - $56.17, dependent upon experience.
