Position: Echo Vascular Technician $2,500 Sign on Bonus

Job Description

This position performs a variety of diagnostic cardiac/vascular exams under the direction of a physician for identification of abnormalities leading to patient diagnosis.

  • Sign‑on bonus: up to $2,500.00 for eligible applicants.
  • Location:

    Based at Utah Valley Hospital (supporting Canyons South hospitals).
  • Shift: 36 hours a week, 7:30‑17:00 (4) 9‑hour shifts. Must be willing to work some holidays/weekends and help with on‑call coverage.
Qualifications
  • ARDMS or CCI certification in cardiac or vascular sonography (Minimum).
  • Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers (Minimum).
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution (Preferred).
  • Experience as a Registered Sonographer (Preferred).
Essential Functions
  • Demonstrate technical competence for performance protocols specific to the department.
  • Prioritize and schedule exams; coordinate exams with medical staff, physician offices, other caregivers and patients.
  • Prepare for the exam by following patient identification processes, educating patient and family on procedure, and transporting the patient.
  • Perform ultrasound exams consistent with related protocols and in a timely manner; ensure patient safety, comfort and quality outcomes.
  • Throughout the exam, identify patient needs and appropriately communicate and coordinate patient care with physicians, other caregivers, patient and family.
  • After the exam, return patient to room and ensure patient stability and safety.
  • Mentor caregivers and students on basic equipment use and procedural technique.
  • Appropriately document exam results; apply appropriate charge codes for exams and supplies.
  • Clean and maintain equipment, work area, and stock supplies; coordinate repair or supply needs.
  • Support team and quality improvement processes and initiatives.
  • Participate in educational opportunities to ensure clinical competence and develop additional skills; provide education for other caregivers, fellows, and students as appropriate.

Physical Requirements
  • Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, assess patient needs, operate monitors and identify equipment and supplies.
  • Frequent interactions requiring verbal communication and hearing; ability to comprehend alarms, needs, issues quickly and accurately, especially during emergencies.
  • Manual dexterity to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision; frequent computer use and typing for documentation.
  • Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients; bend to retrieve, lift and carry supplies and equipment including heavy items.
  • Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients; obtain and distribute supplies and equipment; push/pull gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items; navigate crowded rooms.
  • May be required to stand in a stationary position for extended periods.
  • For roles requiring driving:
    Expected to drive a vehicle; requires seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, etc.
Hours/Compensation

Scheduled weekly hours: 36

Hourly rate: $38.77 - $59.82 (actual rate depends on experience).
