Join our team as an MRI Technologist (PRN)!
We are seeking a skilled and dependable MRI Technologist to join our team at Utah Valley Hospital. This PRN role is ideal for an experienced tech who can work independently when needed and thrives in a fast‑paced hospital environment.
You’ll work closely with radiologists, physicians, and fellow caregivers to deliver high-quality diagnostic imaging while ensuring patient safety and comfort. This position requires flexibility and confidence working both independently and as part of a team.

- Benefits Eligible:
No (PRN) - Shift Details: PRN (10‑hour shifts)
- Start times vary: as early as 5:30 AM (Mon/Fri) and 6:00 AM (Tue–Thu, Sat)
- Additional start times may include 7:00 AM, 8:00 AM, or occasional 9:00 AM
- Rotating Saturdays and occasional Sundays
- Rotating holidays (~1 or fewer per year, on‑call)
- Minimal call (a few days per year as needed)
- Maintains ARRT or modality‑specific competency and performs MRI exams per protocol
- Verifies patient identity, prepares patients, and ensures proper positioning
- Reviews images for quality, clarity, and diagnostic accuracy
- Follows MRI safety, infection control, and sterile technique standards
- Completes studies efficiently without compromising patient care
- Supports patient education, comfort, and overall workflow
- Operates MRI equipment and imaging systems (e.g., PACS)
- Documents exams accurately and follows protocols for coding, charging, and reporting
- May assist with training or supporting other caregivers
- Anatomy knowledge and MRI imaging principles
- Image evaluation and quality assessment
- MRI equipment operation and contrast protocols
- MRI safety practices
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication and patient care skills
- Task prioritization in a fast‑paced environment
- Familiarity with electronic imaging systems
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)(MR) or American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT) or American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)(R) cross‑trained in MRI
- Basic Life Support certification (BLS) for healthcare providers
- IV Competency within 30 days of hire
- 1‑2 years of MRI technologist experience
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
- Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
- Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.
- Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.
- Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.
- Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc.)
- May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
