MS MedSLP Clinical Instructor COMPENSATIONExpected Pay Range: $50 / hour
(Pay rate is commensurate with experience and qualifications.)
This position is primarily campus-based and clinical in nature, working directly with graduate students and clients in the MS Medical Speech-Language Pathology program.
- Up to 10 hours per week

THE ROLE
The MS Medical Speech-Language Pathology Clinical Instructor provides clinical education and supervision to graduate students as they develop assessment, treatment, documentation, and professional practice competencies. This role combines clinical expertise with teaching and mentorship to support student learning while ensuring high-quality client care.

Through direct supervision, feedback, and mentorship, instructors help students apply classroom knowledge in real-world clinical settings, develop professional judgment, and deliver evidence-based care to diverse patient populations. This position directly supports student success, program quality, and community access to speech-language pathology services.

- Teach clinical application laboratory courses within the MS MedSLP program.
- Supervise graduate student clinicians during assessment and treatment activities.
- Guide students in conducting appropriate evaluations and developing individualized treatment plans.
- Mentor students in the use of evidence-based therapeutic interventions and clinical decision-making.
- Ensure student compliance with applicable practice acts, professional standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Support students in discharge planning and client recommendations.
- Provide instruction on client and family communication, education, and home program development.
- Review, approve, sign, and co-sign clinical documentation in accordance with applicable regulations and organizational policies.
- Guide students in completing evaluations, treatment notes, and discharge summaries accurately and within established timelines.
- Collaborate with program leadership and clinical education staff to ensure high-quality learning experiences and client outcomes.
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology (MA/MS) or equivalent graduate degree.
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
- Current Utah Speech-Language Pathology license or eligibility for licensure in Utah.
- Minimum of two (2) years of recent clinical experience in speech-language pathology.
- Demonstrated expertise in assessment and treatment of speech, language, cognitive, and neurogenic communication disorders.
- Strong communication, collaboration, organizational, and mentoring skills.
- Commitment to evidence-based practice, ethical clinical care, and student-centered learning.
- Prior experience supervising graduate student clinicians or mentoring healthcare professionals.
- Teaching experience in higher education or clinical education settings.
- Specialized expertise in any area within the scope of practice.
- Experience with electronic documentation systems and clinical outcome tracking.
- Demonstrated commitment to interprofessional collaboration and innovation in clinical education.
