The Bartender at the Provo Marriott Hotel & Conference Center is responsible for providing exceptional beverage service to hotel guests, conference attendees, and local patrons. This role requires a friendly, professional demeanor, strong product knowledge, and the ability to create a welcoming atmosphere while maintaining Marriott brand standards. The Bartender plays a key role in delivering memorable guest experiences in our bar, lounge, and event spaces.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to established recipes, portion control, and Marriott brand standards
- Provide attentive, courteous, and efficient service to guests at the bar and surrounding service areas
- Engage with guests in a professional and welcoming manner, anticipating needs and making recommendations
- Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked bar area before, during, and after shifts
- Accurately process guest orders and payments using the POS system
- Follow all cash-handling, credit card, and accounting procedures
- Ensure compliance with all state and local alcohol laws, including checking guest identification and practicing responsible alcohol service
- Monitor guest consumption and address any issues discreetly and professionally
- Collaborate with servers, supervisors, and kitchen staff to ensure smooth service operations
- Adhere to all health, safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards
Qualifications
- Previous bartending experience preferred (hotel or high-volume environment a plus)
- Knowledge of classic cocktails, beer, wine, and spirits
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Must be at least 21 years of age (or as required by state law)
- Valid alcohol service certification (or ability to obtain upon hire)
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Ability to lift and carry up to 30 lbs (kegs, cases, supplies)
- Ability to bend, reach, and perform repetitive motions
