Job Overview

Provo City is seeking a part‑time Information Systems Technician to support the deployment, operation, and maintenance of City‑wide hardware and software systems. The position requires civic‑minded individuals who can provide technical work and customer support.

• Provide highly skilled customer service and maintain the user help desk for technical hardware and software issues according to organizational policies.
• Troubleshoot basic hardware and software problems by phone or onsite.
• Maintain accurate logs of support calls and results; prepare reports and statistics on support requests.
• Instruct users on basic software/computer use, information systems standards, best practices, and procedures.
• Deploy basic software applications and firmware on workstations, scanners, printers, and other computerized devices.
• Provide frontline cyber security defense, including detection and elimination of viruses, spyware, malware, and other common cyber attacks.
• Maintain the life cycle of hardware and software, including inventory management, manufacturer warranty facilitation, and analysis of replacement needs.
• Assist other staff members as needed and perform related duties as required.

• One year of computer operation and system support experience.
• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
• Valid, lawful driver’s license.
• Equivalent combination of job‑related education and experience may satisfy requirements; each year of post‑secondary education or training substitutes for 6 months of experience.

• Pay rate of $25.97 per hour, depending on experience.

Twenty hours per week, Monday through Thursday between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. (actual schedule to be discussed in the interview).

Requires moderate lifting up to 40 lbs.; frequent sitting, standing, and walking; attention to detail for long periods in cramped spaces (City vehicles); vision for data analysis and troubleshooting; exposure to computers, electronics, and high stress situations; may require travel between City sites during inclement weather.
