Overview
Position Title: Director of Parks & Recreation.
Job Posting Closing Date: 02/25. Provo City is hiring a Director of Parks and Recreation to provide executive direction and administration work with responsibility to plan, organize, lead, and direct all activities of the Parks & Recreation Department. This position will work closely with City Administration and the Municipal Council. The Director will be an effective leader with a history of success focused on collaboration and entrepreneurial management.

Pay Rate
: (M05) $133,541-$195,861 annualized (depending on qualifications)
- Oversee and direct all activities, programs, personnel, and strategies of the Parks & Recreation department.
- Establish a department vision and direct its execution.
- Assess the community’s parks and recreation needs and establish a variety of programs.
- Oversee the release of public announcements and activity promotions.
- Prepare a timely departmental budget and manage departmental expenditures.
- Oversee procurement of new equipment, including researching innovative procedures and equipment to advance the efficiency and ability of the department.
- Manage staffing within the department including selection, development, discipline, recognition, and retention.
- Represent the department and the City on various boards, groups, and committees.
Provo City will honor an equivalent combination of job-related education, training, and experience.
- Master’s degree in business, public administration, or a related field.
- Six (6) years of professional experience in a closely related field, four (4) years of which must be at a management level.
- A valid, lawful Driver’s License.
