Position Title: Director of Energy Services

Provo City is seeking a full-time Director of Energy Services to oversee the operations and administration of the Energy department. This position will work closely with City Administration and the Municipal Council. The Director of Energy Services will be a dynamic leader with a demonstrated history of success focused on efficient operations and safety protocols. Well-rounded professionals with problem-solving mindsets who are interested in supporting the energy services provided to the residents of Provo City are strongly encouraged to apply.

Pay Rate
: (M07) $147,000 - $215,000 annualized (depending on qualifications)
Monitor and direct all activities, programs, personnel, and strategies of the department.
Exercise technical expertise in power grids, substations, and all other electrical infrastructure and processes.
Identify and resolve areas of inefficiency and administrative or operational concerns.
Ensure safety programs are developed, implemented, and followed by all personnel.
Make staffing decisions including selection and retention, training, disciplining, and recognizing.
Actively represent public power interests in state, area, and national organizations.
Advise City leadership in all Energy Services related matters.
Prepare and present various statistical and analytical reports.
Provo City will honor an equivalent combination of job-related education, training, and experience.
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, public administration, or a closely related field.
Five years of experience administering electric utility programs with at least 3 years of which were in a responsible management capacity.
A valid, lawful Driver License.
Strong knowledge of functions, operations, terminology and duties associated with electrical power systems.
Familiarity with laws, codes, rules, and regulations governing municipal power systems.
Well-developed ability to explain technical plans to non-technical officials and the public.
